Samanadipa Forest Buddhist Monastery

Kathina season celebration | 5 nov. 2023

Dear friends,

We are inviting you to our Kathina celebration at Samanadipa Monastery, taking place on the 5th of November.

What is Kathina?

Kathina is a significant Buddhist festival that marks the end of the traditional three-month rainy season retreat for monks. During this time, monks stay within their monasteries, dedicating themselves to meditation and study. Kathina is a time for the lay community to come together and make merit by offering cloth and other requisites to the monks. This generous act of giving strengthens the spiritual bond between laypeople and monastic communities.
