Samanadipa Forest Buddhist Monastery

Vesak, Pha Pa, Pabbajja | 19 May 2024

Dear friends,

We are inviting you to our Pha Pa festival and pabbajja (novice) ordination at Samanadipa Monastery, taking place on the 19th of May.

What is Vesak?
Vesak, also known as Vesākha, is a significant Buddhist holiday that commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Siddhartha Gautama, the historical Buddha.

What is Pha Pa?
Pha Pa is a Thai Buddhist festival that focusses into supporting monks and their activities. It is a time for the lay community to come together and make merit by offering cloth and other requisites to the monks. This generous act of giving strengthens the spiritual bond between laypeople and monastic communities.

On the same day Anagarika Danny will take ten precepts (pabbajja) and become an samanera, browned robed novice-monk.
